Did you know?
The dresser was one of the most important features in Welsh kitchens, part of their heritage it displayed the family’s wealth. Traditionally newlyweds were given a dresser, it was used to store wedding presents and display the best crockery which was rarely used. The original design of a chest below shelves remained constant throughout the 18th century but by the end of the 19th century the open shelving of the upper section was divided in two with glass-fronted cupboards designed to display delicate china.
